i wanna be yours – by john cooper clarke

Originally released as a song in 1982, it is now used in wedding ceremonies as a poem due to it’s realistic lyrics. It still holds a romantic side but in the day to day lives of modern people. Modern couples are having rustic weddings now and the outdoors is a perfect place to say this poem to your partner ” I wanna be your vacuum cleaner, breathing in your dust” is only one of the quirky but beautiful lines included.

The one – Author unknown

Imagine saying this to your loved one in your Rustic ceremony. I’m just going to put it right in here as it is one of the most amazing poems I have read and heard. It brings tears to your eyes……..Enjoy

When the one whose hand you’re holding
Is the one one who holds your heart
When the one whose eyes you gaze into
Gives your hopes and dreams their start,
When the one you think of first and last
Is the one who holds you tight,
And the things you plan together
Make the whole world seem just right,
When the one whom you believe in
puts their faith and trust in you,
You’ve found the one and only love
You’ll share your whole life through.
” Enough said – BEAUTIFUL

The Song from the Wedding Singer –

i want to make you smile whenever you’re sad

This film is one of my favourites. It’s probably because I grew up in the same era and to be honest the 80’s were the best, yes they were 🙂 Even though it is so lovely as a song, try saying the words. There is a definite rhythm and you can just visualise saying it to your loved one. You may have to sing a little bit though, if you really want to. Good enough for a Rustic wedding, yes definitely, box ticked.

if ever there is tomorrow when we’re not together

‘Winnie the Pooh by A.A Milne

Winnie the Pooh

Who doesn’t love Winnie the Pooh. He lives in the Hundred acre wood with his friends. Wow, why not have your Rustic wedding ceremony set in a place that would replicate the Hundred acre Wood. How amazing would that be!

the day i married my best friend

How lucky are you to be marrying your best friend. The person that you tell your innermost thoughts and feelings to. They know you inside and out and vice versa, warts and all, marvellous, just marvellous

“This day I married my best friend
the one I laugh with as we share life’s wonderous zest,
as we find new enjoyments and experience all that’s best.
the one I live for because the world seems brighter
as our happy times are better and our burdens feel much lighter.
the one I love with every fiber of my soul.
We used to feel vaguely incomplete, now together we are whole.

Whatever poems and readings you choose for the most wonderful day of your life, I’m sure that you will choose ones that resonate most with both of you. Remember that it is all about you two, your day, your wedding, your life.
